Good Friday: How God Can Use It to Change Your Life from Bad to Good!

By the Spirit, to Your Spirit
You may think Good Friday is just another religious observance—a tradition buried in robes and rituals. But it is so much more than that. Good Friday is a divine invitation. It’s God whispering into the chaos of your life, “Let me take the bad, and make it good.”
If you let it, this day can change everything.
What Is Good Friday?
Good Friday is the day the church remembers the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It’s the day the Son of God, sinless and spotless, willingly took the weight of the world’s sins—your sins—and nailed them to a rugged Roman cross. It’s a day soaked in sorrow, yes, but drenched in mercy and purpose.
A Catholic preacher might tell you: “On Good Friday, the altar is bare, the bells are silent, and the tabernacle is empty. The King has laid down His crown to wear your cross.” It is the holiest paradox—a day of death that gave birth to your new life.
Why Good Friday Matters
God’s intention for Good Friday wasn’t just to make history—it was to rewrite your story. He designed this day as a mirror and a gateway: a mirror to reflect the truth about yourself, and a gateway to walk into a better, redeemed version of your life.
Jesus’ suffering wasn’t pointless. It was the price of your freedom.
God allowed His Son to be broken so you could be put back together. He let Jesus be buried so that your past could be buried with Him. Good Friday is the doorway where your shame, regrets, selfishness, addiction, depression, anxiety, and rebellion all come to die—so something beautiful can rise in their place.
Good Friday in Your Life Today
Right now, you might be experiencing your own “Good Friday.” Life may feel like a crucifixion—hopes dashed, plans shattered, relationships bruised, finances dry, joy missing.
But listen—that’s not the end of the story.
God still uses crosses to create crowns. He still uses graves to grow gardens. And He still uses broken people to build His kingdom.
This very weekend, God is waiting to meet you. He wants to sweep into your space, into your pain, into your mess—and flip it upside down with His holy, healing power.
Time for Self-Examination
Now take a breath and look within. Really look.
Are you living life according to your design or God’s?
Have you fallen into the trap of selfishness—taking and never giving, grabbing and never releasing, hoarding your gifts, your time, your love, like they belong only to you?
Are you ignoring the still, small voice that’s been tugging at your spirit, urging you toward purpose, humility, and surrender?
So many people are walking around calling themselves “good,” but have grown spiritually numb. They’ve silenced their conscience with comfort. They say, “I’ll give later,” or “I’ll serve when I have time,” but later never comes. If you see yourself in these words—it’s not too late.
Let this be your moment of awakening. Good Friday is not about guilt—it’s about grace. But grace means nothing unless you respond.
Create Space for God This Weekend
Here’s what you need to do:
Make a prayer vigil this weekend. Find a quiet space. Light a candle. Sit in silence. Don’t scroll. Don’t distract. Don’t numb yourself with noise.
Just sit.
Invite God in. Speak from your heart. Then listen.
Ask Him to come and fill the space you’ve prepared for Him. Invite His presence to hover over you like it did over the waters in Genesis. Let Him stir the stillness with His glory.
And as you sit there in the quiet, believe this: He is charging the atmosphere. Not figuratively—literally. The power of God is like a spiritual electromagnetic force. It doesn’t just enter rooms—it shifts reality. That presence can begin to transform your circumstances. It can break addictions, heal relationships, resurrect dreams, and realign your purpose. If you really want improvement, change, results, solutions or breakthroughs and you are not satisfied with what has shown up so far, you owe it to yourself to do this, this weekend. God will meet with you if you will meet with Him. YOU have a chance to draw the change into your life that you have been wanting and looking for, if God sweeps into your space, into your pain, into your mess—and flips it upside down with His holy, healing power.
Good Friday has come and it’s going to leave, let God use this good Friday to change what is bad into your life to good. Meet with God this weekend, and get your life fixed!
Good Friday Still Matters, use it for your good and God’s glory!
Good Friday matters because Jesus matters.
What you want matters.
But what God wants for you matters even more.
More than likely you’ve been chasing your own plans. Maybe it’s time to compromise with God—not out of defeat, but surrender.
Will you meet Him halfway?
Will you give Him some space this weekend to show up and show out in your life?
Let Him sweep over you.
Let Him light you up.
Let Him turn what was bad… into something unimaginably good.
Your resurrection is coming. But first, you must embrace the cross.
This Good Friday, let God rewrite your story.
Because in His hands, your worst day can become your greatest beginning.
