God’s presence and blessing in Psalm 139:5Experience God’s presence and blessing in your life!

Discover the amazing truths from Psalm 139:5 that will transform your relationship with God and fill your life with joy and peace.

Psalm 139 is a beautiful song of praise and prayer to the God who knows all and is everywhere. The psalmist, David, expresses his awe and wonder at God’s intimate knowledge of him and his constant presence with him. In verse 5, he says:

You go before me and follow me. You place Your hand of blessing on my head.

What does this verse mean for us today? How can we experience God’s presence and blessing in our lives? Here are some truths we can learn from this verse:

You are surrounded by the eternal arms of the living God. The phrase “You go before me and follow me” implies that God is not only with us, but also ahead of us and behind us.

He is our leader, our guide, our protector, and our rear guard. He is like a shepherd who goes before his sheep and follows them to ensure their safety and well-being.

He is like a father who holds his child’s hand and walks with him or her through every situation. He is like a warrior who fights for us and defends us from our enemies.

He is the eternal God, who has no beginning and no end, and who is faithful and unchanging. He surrounds us with His arms of love and power, and nothing can separate us from Him.

He surrounds and encircles you with His lovingkindness and mercy. The word “beset” in the original Hebrew means to press, to compress, to enclose, or to besiege.

It has the idea of being surrounded on every side, with no way of escape. This may sound negative, but in the context of God’s presence, it is positive.

It means that God’s lovingkindness and mercy are always with us, and we cannot escape from them. His lovingkindness is His covenant love, His loyal and steadfast love, His grace and favor.

His mercy is His compassion, His pity, His forgiveness, and His healing. He surrounds us and encircles us with His lovingkindness and mercy, and He never lets us go.

The Lord is close to you, and He has complete knowledge of you. The phrase “You place Your hand upon me” implies that God is not only around us, but also on us.

He touches us, He holds us, He embraces us. He is not distant or detached, but close and personal. He is not ignorant or indifferent, but omniscient and interested.

He knows everything about us, even the things we don’t know ourselves. He knows our thoughts, our words, our actions, our motives, our feelings, our desires, our needs, our fears, our joys, our sorrows, our past, our present, and our future. He knows us better than we know ourselves, and He loves us more than we can imagine.

So expect His blessing and favor on your life. The word “blessing” in the original Hebrew means to kneel, to bless, to praise, or to salute.

It has the idea of honoring, adoring, or worshiping. It also implies the bestowal of good things, such as prosperity, peace, happiness, health, or success.

When God places His hand of blessing on our head, He is showing us His respect, His approval, His affection, and His generosity.

He is saying that we are His children, His friends, His beloved, and His treasure. He is promising to give us all that we need, and more than we deserve.

He is inviting us to enjoy His presence, His fellowship, His communion, and His glory.

Psalm 139:5 is a wonderful verse that reveals God’s presence and blessing in our lives. Let us meditate on it, memorize it, and apply it to our daily lives.

Let us thank God for His amazing love and grace, and let us trust Him for His perfect will and plan. Let us live in the light of His presence and blessing, and let us share it with others. Amen.
