Yet, while we are here on this Earth, the Sun will continue to rise and set, and the seasons will continue as God has ordained.

As we preceive it, today is the last day of 2022. In just a few short hours, we will be passing into another day in which we will celebrate the entrance of the new year, 2023. Time contiues on, at the present, at least.

For many, their thoughts are directed to renewed or new resolutions. So, here is another opportunity to try again, and maybe a little more effort will be given this year to potentially fulfill those desired purposes.

But can we really trust in ourselves to succeed? The Bible says: “He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool.” (Proverbs 28:26a).

The strength to be victorious in our resolutions must come from someone other than ourselves.

The Apostle Paul told the Ephesian believers: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” (Ephesians 6:10).

Our strength to be victorious is found only in the Lord Jesus Christ, and specifically, as we put on the whole armor of God, as explained by Paul in the following verses (vs. 11-20).

Without the armor that God has made available to us, we are left powerless to overcome. The believer’s armor is spiritual, and is both defensive and offensive. We can be victorious, but only as we are in Christ. It is simply foolish to trust in our own strength and intellect.

As time continues to pass on, we must be faithful to securely tighten upon our hearts and minds the heavenly armor of God.

We are living in unprecedented days with a lot of anxiety caused by the vivid uncertainties of tomorrow in just about every whelm!

I do not want to be pessimistic, but the reality is that we are without doubt living in “the last days” as described in the Bible. We are seeing what the Bible so graphically describes: “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2 Timothy 3:13).

Evil is getting worse and worse as God’s truth is more aggressively rejected.

“Seducers” (imposters) are on the rise, and waxing worse. You see it everywhere (religious impostors, political impostors, scientific impostors, educational impostors, military impostors, etc.), not only in our American society, but in all the world!

Evil workers and seducers will continue their deceptive work as millions of people, the world over, blindly follow the deception which will lead them to their ultimate demise and destruction.

The Bible also says that in “the last days” we would “hear of wars and rumours of wars” (Matthew 24:6). It seems like no matter where you look upon this globe, there are wars and/or threats of wars (see Matthew 24:7).

While we may feel overwhelmed by the rising evil of our day, let us remember that God gives clear instruction and grace for the present. We don’t need to worry about tomorrow (Matthew 6:34).

Our responsibility is to be faithful today, and purpose that our activities count for eternity, – for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord exhorts us to “watch and pray” (Matthew 26:41; Mark 13:33), and be ready with our spiritual armor on.

As we watch and pray, we can also rejoice in the knowledge that the Lord is working to bring to fruition His blessed plan: The long-awaited rapture of the believers and later His glorious millennial and eternal reign!
