Keep praying, even if circumstances appear “impossible”!

Several years ago, I woke up with significant swelling in my right calf that increased throughout my leg by the hour. As the swelling increased, my ability to walk decreased to the point that I was on crutches by the end of the day. In the days before, I was healthy and on a considerable weightlifting regimen that consisted of weighted squats in addition to running and jump-roping. I never imagined that I would be unable to walk days later.

I decided to make an appointment to see my orthopedic sports doctor in hopes that he would once again get me back into tip-top sports-training shape. After seeing my doctor and receiving X-rays, an MRI, and a physical examination, he said that he did not know what was happening to my leg nor did he know if I would be able to walk properly again. To top things off, he stated that it was impossible for him to say if I could continue my weight training and running.

I was in shock. To go from being in great physical shape to suddenly, and without warning, being unable to walk was very discouraging and perplexingAs I continued my life over the following days, going to stores, church and work on crutches, I was sad because of the uncertainty and impossibilities for anyone to help me.

In my quiet time, I reflected on Luke 18:27 which reads: “What is impossible with man is possible with God” (CSB). I prayed for God to give me His wisdom regarding my leg and to heal me so that I could walk again. Although it seemed impossible that I would heal, I trusted God to restore my health.

I continued to use crutches to move around, but as I continued praying over my leg, I eventually noticed the swelling decrease over the next couple of weeks. As I gradually tried to walk without the assistance of the crutches, I was able to fully walk on my own. I was filled with gratitude to God.

In our lives, we will surely face circumstances that are impossible for us and others to fix. The good news is that as children of God, we have a heavenly Father that has no impossibilities. What is impossible for us as humans is possible for a sovereign, all-powerful God.

Maybe you are facing impossibilities in your health, your marriage, your finances, or your spiritual life. Although your situation may appear to be hopeless, all things are possible with God. He is almighty and well able to transform any area of your life.

He hears the cries of His children as the Bible says in Psalm 34:17: “The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and rescues them from all their troubles.” Cry out to God and allow Him to step in today.

Let’s pray: Lord, the situations that I face seem impossible for me and for anyone else in my life. I know that with man there will be impossibilities, but with You nothing is impossible. I ask for You to turn my situation around as only You can. I trust You for a miracle. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
