Vote with the Spirit’s Wisdom!
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. John 14:16,17
Many are confused about how to vote in the 2016 Presidential Election. Jesus has given us the solution: let the Holy Spirit lead you into all truth. Pray for the truth to be revealed, if not through the media, through His Spirit directly to you. If you are a believer in Jesus, then you have His Holy Spirit living in you as the Counselor, Advisor, and Spiritual Director of your soul.
So in any decision, whether large or small, you can ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom, and He is more than happy to offer it. He promises us, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” (James 1:5)
So enter the voting booth – that sacred space – saying, “After You, Holy Spirit,” Follow Him and the wisdom He gives you as you wait on Him in prayer. And He will be right there with you, pulling the levers He advises you to pull, choosing the leaders He chooses to lead our country.
Father,
Thank you that you give wisdom generously when I ask you for it. Thank you that you speak when I wait on you in prayer. Lord, I give you all my pre-conceived ideas, my partisan voting history, my family’s political leanings, and all that I’ve heard in the media. I release all to you so that I can empty my mind of the noise and clutter and simply hear directly from you. You say that your ways are not like my ways. You have a bigger perspective. You see the end from the beginning. I only look through a tiny keyhole. So speak to my heart. Lead me. Help me to receive your guidance in this election. And, Lord, I will vote according to your standards, your judgement, and your direction for the future of my country.
In Jesus’ Name Amen
