Tune in to God as you pray – Listen for His answers!
Prayer is a powerful tool in our life that connects us to an all knowing and perfect God. Prayer allows us to communicate to God who is our Father in Heaven.
“Most of the time, your prayers will be silent. You can think a prayer. You can always have a direct line of communication with your Father in Heaven. Do not allow the adversary to convince you that no one is listening on the other end. Your prayers are always heard. You are never alone!”
Answer To Prayer
“There is one part of prayer, the answer part that perhaps by comparison we neglect. There are some things about answers to prayer that you can learn when you are very young, and they will be a great protection to you.
Many years ago John Burroughs, a naturalist, one summer evening was walking through a crowded park. Above the sounds of city life he heard the song of a bird. He stopped and listened! Those with him had not heard it. He looked around. No one else had noticed it. It bothered him that everyone should miss something so beautiful. He took a coin from his pocket and flipped it into the air. It struck the pavement with a ring, no louder than the song of the bird. Everyone turned; they could hear that! It is difficult to separate from all the sounds of city traffic the song of a bird.
But you can hear it. You can hear it plainly if you train yourself to listen for it.
Put difficult questions in the back of your minds and go about your lives. Ponder and pray quietly and persistently about them.
The answer may not come as a lightning bolt. It may come as a little inspiration here and a little there, “line upon line, precept upon precept” (D&C 98:12).
Some answers will come from reading the scriptures, some from hearing speakers. And, occasionally, when it is important, some will come by very direct and powerful inspiration. The promptings will be clear and unmistakable.”
Prayer Like a Radio
Prayer is like a homemade radio; you are trying to communicate with someone over a long distance, and the time and energy you put into making that radio, and the skill and experience tuning it determines the quality and amount of dialog you get back. It takes time, practice, and patience to tune out the “interference” to hear the still small voice when wanting an answer.
Answer to prayers come in different forms and means. Just like a radio we must come in tune with the channel of the Spirit. God is always speaking to us but it is us that need to develop the quiet attributes and stillness needed to hear him. As we ponder upon things, go to him humbly, be still, serve, and read the scriptures we will find ourselves learning the language of the Spririt and knowing Gods voice. We will find more peace and happiness as we develop this essential tool in our life, we will be directed and protected.
God is always listening, we will never getting a busy signal or a dropped call through praying to him. He is the only one that is constantly and consistently here for us each and everyday. He is listening but are You?
