God has given you the power to change!

The greatest secret to acting on God’s timing is understanding that He has given you incredible power to be able to change! Want to lose weight? Get a better job? Go back to college? Find a spouse? Get closer to God? Whatever it is, understand that real change is one of the most difficult things you’ll ever do and one of the most difficult things that you will have ever have to stick to.In fact, even the threat of death doesn’t work. A recent study indicated that within only two years, 90 percent of open-heart surgery patients go back to their old eating habits—the same lifestyle that got them there in the first place! Real change is hard, but you can do it if you make up your mind to do it and if you really commit to utilizing your power to change!  God will help you stick to the changes you start if you invite Him into the areas of your life that you know need changing!

For God to fully use you,you need to embrace the kind of change that allows Him to work. You’ve got to take an honest look at your life, your lifestyle, your habits, and where you are right now and seriously think about what areas you might need to work on using your God given power to change! Think about it for a moment if you will! What areas of your life does God bring to your mind that you could improve on by making changes? Is it your weight? Your income? How you spend your time? What is God nudging you to change? Let this message reach you right where you are right now and consider the key insights below as you think about what areas in your life you may need change?!

     1. Let Go of Your Past – It’s not how many times you fall that matters, it’s how many times you get back up. Past failure doesn’t matter because God is a God of  forgiveness, new starts and second chances,if you let go of your past and what hurt you and what didn’t go right,God will give you a better future. But you have to do something first. Stop looking back. Get your eyes off the past, and start focusing on the future.

     2. Know Your Destination –  If you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll never know when you get there. Before you start the journey toward change, know specifically what you want to accomplish. And don’t forget to reward yourself along the way. Goals are great, but if they take too long to achieve, you’ll give up. So create “mini-goals” to encourage yourself along the journey.
     3. Take Control of Your Priorities and Eliminate Destructive Distractions – Don’t allow insignificant distractions to keep you from changing your life. Like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, millions of people spend enormous time on things that really don’t matter while their lives spin out of control. You’ll never reach your goals unless you understand the power of priorities. Spend less time on what seems urgent at the moment and more time on what really matters.
     4. Overcome Fear and Insecurity – What are you afraid of? Insecurity and fear keep more people from achieving greatness than anything else, and in most cases, it has very little basis in fact. You are a child of God, created in His image. What could possibly keep you from reaching your potential? Every day, take a first step into an area that you’ve been afraid of; and every day, you’ll be placing a new brick in the foundation of a better life. The old southern preacher was right: “God didn’t junk!” You are special, you are chosen by God, and there’s nothing that you and God can’t accomplish together.
     5. Find Personal Cheerleaders – Surround yourself with people who believe in you. Spend less time with negative people who drain your energy, and spend more time with people who love and support your dreams and goals.
     6. Appreciate the Mystery of Life – Life isn’t about finding all the right answers; it’s about asking the right questions. We simply don’t have all the answers, but we worship a God who does. The key is trusting God. Have you really put your complete trust in the God of the universe? Or are you still second- guessing Him—worrying about your family, your job, or your future? Learn to trust, and then relax in the arms of our Savior.  Changing your life is a process, but real change doesn’t happen until you decide  that you will change, make a plan to change and stick with your plan no matter what. Remember if it’s going to be, it’s up to you! You can do it, so go ahead and begin your changing process! You can do this and when you finally decide to change, God will help you every step of the way. So go ahead, take that first step, go forward and change!
